The amount of glass bottles recycled is increasing every year, but this amount of recycling is huge and immeasurable.

According to the Glass Packaging Association: The energy saved by recycling a glass bottle can light a 100-watt light bulb for about four hours, run a computer for 30 minutes, and watch a TV show for 20 minutes, so recycling glass is a significant thing to do.

Recycling glass bottles saves energy, reduces landfill waste capacity, and can provide more raw materials for other products, including, of course, glass bottles. According to the U.S. Chemical Products Council's National Consumer Plastic Bottle Report, about 2.5 billion pounds of plastic bottles were recycled in 2009, a recycling rate of only 28 percent.

The significance of glass recycling

Recycling one ton of waste glass

can save 720 kg of quartz sand, 250 kg of soda ash, 60 kg of feldspar powder, and

Save 10 tons of coal and 400 degrees of electricity.

One ton of waste glass can be regenerated into 20,000 500g bottles after returning to the furnace, saving 20% of the cost than producing with new raw materials.

The energy saved by recycling a glass bottle can make a 100-watt light bulb light up for about 4 hours, can make a computer run for 30 minutes, and can watch 20 minutes of TV programs.

The recycling of waste glass can not only save disposal costs for the environmental protection department, save land, but also be able to reduce the pollution of the environment. Authorities say that when the content of broken glass used in 60% of the total mating material, can reduce air pollution by 6% to 22%.

The situation of foreign recycled glass

1Belgium

Belgium takes the lead in glass recycling. With 95.95% of glass recycling rate ranked first in the EU, by the Netherlands and Sweden, 91.27% and 91.14% respectively.

2Germany

In Germany, the recycling of flat glass and bottle glass recycling has a long history, bottle glass recycling, only in 1996, Germany recycled 2.8 million t bottles of glass and re-melted them, and the recycling rate reached 79%. At the same time also a different way to recycle flat glass. Germany has established a bottle and jar and flat glass recycling, processing network, and achieved good results. Germany's current recycling rate of waste glass is more than 80%.

3Japan

Japan has 200 waste glass recycling centers throughout the country, a glass bottle recycling rate of about 50%, while the recovery rate of wine bottles and beverage bottles has been as high as 80% or more. Japan plans to end the 20th century, with a glass bottle recycling rate of 90% and the reuse rate of 60%.

Summarizing the glass recycling situation in Japan, it can be seen that they have used recycled glass over the years to remanufacture an average of about 700,000 tons of glass per year, accounting for 1 / 3 of the glass industry production of raw materials.
